Shopping at your local Dollar Tree is sure to save you some money. There are some things you want to consider before shopping at your local store.
- Always shop with a copy of Dollar Tree’s official coupon policy.
- Newspaper Coupons and Printable Manufacturer Coupons will be accepted.
- Inventory does vary by location, so you may not be able to find every *HOT* deal or freebie.
- There is a limit of two printable coupons per transaction. This applies to any printable coupons. Newspaper manufacturer coupons don’t carry the same limit.
- They don’t allow overage (or cash back) on items purchased with coupons that exceed the value of an item.
Just because everything is a dollar, it doesn’t mean it’s a good deal. Follow our guidelines for some general rules when it comes to getting a bargain at your local Dollar Tree!
Things to Buy at Your Local Dollar Tree
Dollar Tree often has great seasonal buys. Right now it is summer so we were able to find pool toys, flip-flops, floats and even merchandise for upcoming holidays! Purchasing these items at other stores is going to cost far more, and much of it doesn’t get used more than a few times a year!
Planning a party soon? Don’t head to your local party supply store, stop at Dollar Tree instead. You can often find tableware, gift bags, wrapping paper and even party favors. At some stores like this one, they even have Disney supplies for your party!
You know how expensive greeting cards can be! It isn’t unusual to spend $4-$5 on ONE card at your local stores! Dollar Tree offers sections of cards for $1 each and even another section where you can score 2 for $1. What a bargain!
Dollar Tree has all your storage needs covered. Look at the great selection of bright and colorful containers. I have filled my house with similar products and believe these can be used for great organizational projects! We have some that hold nail polish, school books, magazines and even our candy in the pantry!
You will often find aluminum foil, sandwich bags and even great kitchen gadgets at your local store. I like to grab a few gadgets and throw them into a housewarming gift basket! Another great kitchen buy is their storage containers. Can’t beat the price if you are in need!
If you are not brand loyal with your cleaning supplies, Dollar Tree is the perfect place to shop! They have great deals on brooms, sponges, laundry detergent and even bleach. Occasionally I do spot some brand names like Lysol and others.
Many Dollar Tree stores carry a great variety of coloring books, word finds and even hardcover books. Why spend more for your entertainment than $1 if you don’t have to!
Toys & Games
Many stores will carry a nice variety of toys and games. They won’t be name brand, but they will serve the purpose!
Things NOT to Buy at Dollar Tree
Personal Care Needs
As a couponer I can assure you that you I will not buy personal care items at Dollar Tree unless they are free. Not that they aren’t a good deal for non-couponers, but for us, we can normally do better with a store sale and our favorite currency (coupons). This also includes makeup as only on occasion will you be able to pair a coupon with a name brand makeup deal at Dollar Tree.
Again, as someone who regularly uses coupons, the grocery section is one that I will avoid when shopping. There are times when that rule does not apply, like when there is a coupon for an item that will become free.
Normally the back to school sales are far better than deals at Dollar Tree. Try and purchase what you need for the school year during those sales. If you find yourself in need of supplies in the off season when there are no deals, Dollar Tree would be a good place to go for some of the products.
