It isn’t often that I get involved in the hype of a product, but I have to be honest that I struggled with the Martha and Marley Spoon Box. I’ve posted the $30 off your first box deal several times and many of you contacted me afterward RAVING about it. It got me curious, to say the least.
I figured with the $30 off, I was only paying $18 for two meals for two people each to try it out, so what the heck! My thought was:
- I will make a healthy meal for Brian and me to enjoy.
- We can make two little date nights at home out of the experience.
- It would give me a chance to tell you what I thought about the Martha and Marley Spoon Box.
So, without much further ado, let me tell you my completely honest thought about the Martha and Marley Spoon Box.
My Experience with Ordering
Ordering couldn’t have been any easier. I choose to go with two meals for two which came to $18 shipped after the discount. You can choose the meals you want easily and even schedule the delivery.
If you need to skip further dates, that can be done up to 7 weeks in advance. If you don’t want to continue service, it is also simple to cancel. There is no pressure ever and I LOVED that!
I finally decided on the Steak & Potatoes and Indian Beef Curry. Mainly because we eat mostly chicken in our home so it was a nice treat, but also because it was grass-fed beef which made me VERY happy!
The Unboxing of My Martha and Marley Spoon Box
The package arrived on my doorstep yesterday and it was like Christmas for a small child. I did a little dance around it and proceeded to unbox it.
The box was sturdy and strong. Inside was a little-insulated container with the ingredients and some ice packs. The ice packs are reusable and large.
Most of the ingredients came in brown bags except for a few that needed to be refrigerated.
I was blown away by the quality and value of the ingredients. I have to admit the price of the box was slightly more than I am willing to pay for something like this, but after seeing the ingredients, I was sold!
They were fresher than buying at a local market and healthy. In addition, they didn’t skimp on the brands or quality of the items they sent in any way.
They even went as far as to place the small amount of butter and red wine vinegar I was going to need in the package. I only needed to provide the basics like salt, pepper and olive oil.
With each of the bags of ingredients also come complete directions on how to prepare the meals. They were so simple to follow – step by step.
Last night, Brian and I put the kids to bed and decided to make a little night of it. We stayed up and cooked the Steak & Potatoes meal together. It was a lot of fun and like I mentioned before, easy as could be.
The times on the recipe were dead on.
I was shocked at just how much was supplied. For example, there was enough fresh spinach for both of us to have half a plate full. I am a big fan of eating more vegetables than anything else with my meal, so that was a huge plus for me.
Dinner Was Delicious
I couldn’t believe how much food there was! Despite being a super tasty meal, I couldn’t finish my entire dish. There was way more than what was needed for two people.
The dressing that we created from scallions, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard and horseradish was to die for! I sprinkled it over my entire plate!
The beef was so tender and juicy. Plus the twice baked potatoes are going on my list of things to make for the family! YUM-YUM!
My Final Verdict
Martha and Marley Spoon did not pay me to tell you how I feel about this box, nor did they give me one for free (although maybe they should 😉 hint-hint). I only share this with you because many of the readers have already taken advantage of the $30 off special (which makes two meals for two people just $18!) and I wanted to know if it was really worth it.
Here are my final thoughts on the Martha and Marley Spoon box:
Things I Loved:
- The quality of the ingredients was out of this world.
- The directions were simple and easy to follow.
- All of our items came packaged carefully and neatly.
- The introductory price of $18 for two meals x 2 people was reasonable. It really breaks down to just $4.50 a plate when you think about it.
- They provided MORE than enough food for 2 people – I could have fed a kid as well.
Things I Didn’t Love:
- I am not fond of the ongoing price – it probably won’t work for me.
- There isn’t a plan that would even feed my large family – nor would I want to see the price of what that would cost!
So, while I loved the Martha and Marley Spoon box and thought it was a lot of fun to enjoy, it isn’t right for my family. BUT, it might be right for yours! I encourage you to try the deal while you can get $30 off your first box. Remember, you can easily skip deliveries or cancel altogether if you don’t find it to be beneficial.
Tonight, Brian and I will be enjoying Beef Indian Curry with buttered Naan. YUM!
